Vinification
Prokupac is an autochthonous Serbian grape, usually fermented on the skins with moderate extraction to preserve freshness and fruitiness. The wine ages in small vessels (stainless steel or neutral oak) to highlight varietal character. The style aims at drinkability and the terroir of the Smederevo district.
Winery Story
The Kostić family winery is located in the Zlatni Breg area near Smederevo — one of Serbia's oldest viticultural districts. The winemakers focus on autochthonous Serbian varieties, above all Prokupac, aiming to express the distinctive character of the local terroir. The small scale of production allows close attention to every batch.
Vineyard Story
The Zlatni Breg ('Golden Hill') area near Smederevo enjoys a mild continental climate with Danube influence, ensuring a good diurnal temperature range and the preservation of acidity in the fruit. The soils are mainly loess-clay, giving Prokupac wines a characteristic earthiness and soft tannins. The vineyards lie on gentle south-facing slopes that ensure optimal ripening.
