Vinification
The wine is made from native grapes grown on the volcanic soils of Etna at 600–1000 metres above sea level. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with minimal intervention, preserving the volcanic minerality and freshness of the terroir. The style is focused on the purity of the fruit aromas and bright acidity.
Winery Story
Terre Nere is one of the leading wineries on volcanic Mount Etna, founded by Marc de Grazia in the early 2000s. The estate has been a pioneer in reviving old vines and native Etna grape varieties, drawing global attention to this unique terroir. Its philosophy is built on organic farming and minimal intervention through the winemaking process.
Vineyard Story
The vineyards lie on the northern slopes of Mount Etna at altitudes ranging from 600 to 1000 metres above sea level. The soils are volcanic, rich in basalt and ash and lean in nutrients, which gives the wines a characteristic minerality and freshness. Old vines aged 80–100 years, trained in the traditional alberello system, yield small crops of exceptionally expressive fruit.
