Vinification
Blonde is a natural wine from Andrea Calek, a self-taught winemaker in the Ardèche working in the natural style with minimal intervention. Viognier ferments with native yeasts, no filtration, and minimal sulfur. The style is light and drinkable, far from the classic heavy interpretations of the variety.
Winery Story
Andrea Calek is a Czech émigré who settled in the Ardèche and became one of the cult winemakers of the French natural-wine scene. He works small plots in the mountainous Ardèche, holding to absolute non-intervention principles in both vineyard and cellar. His wines stand out for their liveliness, directness and honesty.
Vineyard Story
Calek's vineyards lie on the granite and volcanic soils of the Ardèche at altitude, which gives a cool microclimate and keeps the wines fresh. Viognier here, unlike in Condrieu, takes on a lighter and more mineral profile thanks to the terroir and organic farming without chemicals.
