Vinification
Muntanya is a traditional-method extra brut from Pepe Raventós's Can Sumoi estate in the Massís del Montmell, Penedès. Macabeu and Xarel·lo (50/50) from vineyards at 400-700 m ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, take second fermentation in bottle and rest about 12 months on the lees. Farmed organically and biodynamically, with nothing added.
Winery Story
Can Sumoi is Pepe Raventós's natural project: a 1730s farmhouse high in the Serra de l'Home, farmed biodynamically to show the pure mountain side of Penedès.
Vineyard Story
Vines grow between 400 and 700 metres on poor, stony calcareous soils of the Montmell massif — altitude and limestone give the wine its tension and saline cut.
