Vinification
A cuvée from Gérald Oustric at Le Mazel — one of the pioneers of natural winemaking in the Ardèche valley. The white grapes Sauvignon Blanc and Grenache Blanc are partially macerated on the skins for structure; minimal intervention, with no or minimal sulfur addition. The style is lively, nervy, with pronounced acidity and a terroir character.
Winery Story
Gérald Oustric founded Le Mazel in the Ardèche (Rhône valley) and became one of the legendary figures of French natural winemaking. His approach is a complete refusal of chemistry in vineyard and cellar, with minimal manipulation of the wine. Oustric has inspired a whole generation of natural winemakers across France.
Vineyard Story
Le Mazel's vineyards lie on granite and schist soils in the Ardèche, at altitudes that ensure cool nights and the preservation of acidity. The terroir is marked by lean soils and a wild character, lending the wines minerality and tension. Les Lèches is a typical expression of the local landscape.
