Vinification
The 'Kalkundkiesel Weiss' cuvée (limestone and gravel) is a blend of Pinot Blanc, Grüner Veltliner and Muskateller from the limestone-gravel soils of Burgenland. Vinification follows Claus Preisinger's natural approach: minimal intervention, spontaneous fermentation, low sulfite content. The wine reflects the terroir through freshness, minerality and a delicate aromatic profile.
Winery Story
Claus Preisinger is one of Austria's leading natural winemakers, working in Gols (Burgenland) since the early 2000s. He moved to biodynamic farming and became an icon of the natural movement in the region, experimenting with amphorae, maceration and minimal cellar intervention. His wines are known for the precision of their terroir expression and a lively, dynamic texture.
Vineyard Story
The vineyards lie on the limestone-gravel soils of Burgenland — the name 'Kalkundkiesel' (limestone and gravel) refers directly to the geology of the site. These soils provide the pronounced minerality and fresh acidity characteristic of Preisinger's whites. A moderate Pannonian climate influenced by Lake Neusiedl creates ideal conditions for preserving a delicate aromatic profile.
