Vinification
The fruit from the Les Champs Cloux Premier Cru in Rully is fermented by the traditional Burgundian method with partial whole-cluster use. Ageing takes place in oak barrels, mostly old, to preserve Pinot Noir's delicate fruit profile. The estate's style is built on minimal intervention and a precise reflection of the terroir.
Winery Story
Domaine de Villaine is the estate of Aubert and Pamela de Villaine, co-owners of the legendary Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Based in Bouzeron, the estate was founded as a personal project reflecting a philosophy of minimal intervention and respect for the terroir. The vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically, which has become a hallmark of the estate.
Vineyard Story
The Les Champs Cloux vineyard lies in the Rully appellation of the Côte Chalonnaise — the southern extension of the Côte d'Or. Limestone soils with clay inclusions shape the characteristic minerality and elegant structure of the wines. The moderate Chalonnaise climate gives Pinot Noir a freshness and a pronounced acidity that set it apart from the more powerful wines of the Côte de Nuits.
