Vinification
Domaine Trapet practices biodynamic farming and minimal cellar intervention. The grapes are partially destemmed, fermentation runs on native yeasts and ageing takes place in Burgundian barrels — mostly old 228-litre oak barrels with a moderate share of new oak. The 2021 vintage is in a fresher, more elegant style with pronounced acidity.
Winery Story
Domaine Trapet is one of the oldest and most respected estates in Gevrey-Chambertin, with a history of over 150 years. Jean-Louis Trapet converted the estate to biodynamic farming in the early 2000s, gaining Demeter certification. The domain owns first-class parcels, including Chambertin Grand Cru.
Vineyard Story
The Gevrey-Chambertin vineyards lie on the limestone-clay soils of the Côte de Nuits slopes at around 250–350 metres altitude. The village's terroir is marked by a complex combination of clay and limestone, lending the wines characteristic depth and structure. Domaine Trapet's vineyards are worked entirely by hand following the biodynamic calendar.
