Vinification
Pinot Noir from Loimer is made in a minimalist style with an emphasis on varietal and Kamptal-terroir purity. Fermentation runs with minimal intervention, with ageing mainly in old barrels to preserve fruit purity. Loimer follows biodynamic principles, which shows in the wine's living, taut character.
Winery Story
Fred Loimer is one of Austria's leading winemakers, whose family has worked vineyards in the Kamptal since 1868. The estate has fully moved to biodynamic farming and is Demeter-certified, an expression of its philosophy of respect for the land and the natural cycle. Loimer is a member of the Respekt-BIODYN association and one of the founders of the biodynamic movement in Austrian winemaking.
Vineyard Story
Kamptal is one of the key regions of Lower Austria, along the Kamp river. Loimer's vineyards occupy loess and primary-rock soils with a high content of gneiss and crystalline schist, lending the wines their characteristic minerality and structure. The continental climate with warm days and cool nights is ideal for preserving freshness and aromatic intensity in Pinot Noir.
