Vinification
A Merlot reserve from the Artiùl vineyard is aged in oak barrels for an extended period, giving the wine structure and depth. The style reflects the Friulian terroir: Merlot here is more restrained and mineral compared to southern interpretations.
Winery Story
Ronco Severo is a small family estate in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, run by Stefano Novello. The estate places an emphasis on expressing a specific terroir and minimal intervention through the winemaking process. Ronco Severo wines enjoy a reputation among lovers of the authentic Friulian style.
Vineyard Story
The Artiùl vineyard lies in the Collio or Colli Orientali del Friuli zone — one of the finest terroirs of north-eastern Italy. The soils are the characteristic mix of marl and sandstone (ponca), providing good drainage and minerality. The cool climate of the region gives Merlot expressive acidity and herbal notes.
