Vinification
Le Cupole is the 'second wine' of Tenuta di Trinoro, made from young vines and selected lots that did not enter the main blend. The winemaking follows the Bordeaux style with ageing in French oak barrels, some of them new. The wine reflects the power and elegance characteristic of the Val d'Orcia at a relatively restrained alcohol level.
Winery Story
Tenuta di Trinoro was founded by Andrea Franchetti in the early 1990s in a remote corner of the Val d'Orcia, Tuscany. Franchetti brought a Bordeaux vision into the Super-Tuscan context, creating one of Italy's most idiosyncratic estates. After his passing in 2021 the property continues in the spirit of his philosophy.
Vineyard Story
The vineyards lie at 550–700 metres above sea level around Sarteano, in the harsh mountain climate of the Val d'Orcia. The soils are mainly gravelly and clayey, lending the wines pronounced minerality and structure. Extreme diurnal temperature swings preserve acidity and aromatic freshness.
