Vinification
Made in the pétillant naturel style (ancestral method): fermentation begins in tank and finishes in bottle, with no added yeasts or sulfur. Andrea Calek works with minimal intervention, preserving the natural effervescence and the lively character of this Chardonnay–Viognier blend.
Winery Story
Andrea Calek is a winemaker of Czech origin who settled in the Ardèche (southern Rhône) and is one of the pioneers of natural winemaking in France. He works on the principle of total non-intervention: no chemistry in the vineyard, no additives in the cellar. His wines are prized for their honesty, unpredictability and vivid, living character.
Vineyard Story
Calek's vineyards lie on the granite and limestone soils of the Ardèche, at altitudes that preserve freshness and pronounced acidity. The terroir gives the wines a mineral backbone and keeps their aromatics intact even in the warm vintages typical of the southern Rhône.
