Vinification
Clos Lentiscus is known for its natural approach with minimal intervention. Syrah from Catalonia is fermented on wild yeasts with minimal added sulfur. The style aims at preserving a lively, fresh texture at moderate alcohol.
Winery Story
Clos Lentiscus is the family biodynamic estate of Manel Avinyó and his daughter Núria at the historic Can Ramon farm in Sant Pere de Ribes, in the Garraf hills of Penedès. Demeter-certified and focused on native varieties, it is regarded as one of the pioneers of natural winemaking in Spain.
Vineyard Story
The vineyards lie in the El Garraf subzone of Penedès, on limestone soils close to the Mediterranean coast. Sea breezes and the dry Mediterranean climate give the wines freshness and a pronounced herbal character. The lentiscus (mastic tree) growing around the vineyards lends the estate its name and reflects the wild, untouched character of the terroir.
