Vinification
A single-variety Champagne from Pinot Meunier grown on the single vineyard of Vrigny, aged in barrel on the lees for several years. Egly-Ouriet practices extended lees ageing (at least four years), which gives the wine exceptional depth and complexity. Dosage is minimal to highlight the purity of the terroir.
Winery Story
Egly-Ouriet is a cult récoltant-manipulant in the village of Ambonnay in the Grand Cru of Montagne de Reims, established in the mid-20th century. Francis Egly took over in the 1980s and turned the estate into one of the most revered in Champagne, thanks to biodynamic farming and extreme extended ageing. Their Champagnes are considered a benchmark of the terroir style and rank among the most sought-after by collectors.
Vineyard Story
The vineyard sits in the village of Vrigny on the Petite Montagne de Reims, an area historically planted to Pinot Meunier. The plot is classified as Premier Cru and is marked by limestone-clay soils that give the wine its characteristic minerality and earthy depth. The vines are old, lending concentration and a complexity atypical of the variety.
