Vinification
Joschuari is a light, fresh Blaufränkisch from Gut Oggau, grown on the limestone-schist soils of Burgenland. The winemaking is minimalist: spontaneous fermentation, gentle extraction, ageing in old wooden barrels without intervention. The aim is to convey the pure character of the terroir and the variety in a drinkable, living style.
Winery Story
Gut Oggau is a family estate of Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe in Austrian Burgenland, working along biodynamic lines and certified Demeter. Each of the estate's wines bears the name of a fictional 'family member' of Oggau, personifying the style and character of the cuvée. The estate's philosophy is based on non-intervention and respect for the soil and the living vine.
Vineyard Story
Gut Oggau's vineyards lie around the village of Oggau on the western shore of Lake Neusiedl. Joschuari comes from plots on limestone-schist and gravelly soils that give the wine its characteristic minerality and freshness. A moderate continental climate with the lake's influence supports slow ripening and the preservation of natural acidity.
