Vinification
Le Mazel is Gérald Oustric's cult natural estate in the Ardèche. Larmande is a Syrah cuvée vinified with minimal intervention: native yeasts, no added sulfur or minimal doses, and ageing in neutral vessels to preserve the purity of the terroir.
Winery Story
Le Mazel is the estate of Gérald and Jocelyne Oustric in the Ardèche, long a touchstone for the natural-wine movement in France. Gérald Oustric has worked vineyards on granite and schist soils along organic and biodynamic lines, with no chemical inputs. The estate is known for an honest, terroir-driven philosophy and many cuvées that reflect the diversity of its plots.
Vineyard Story
The Larmande vineyard lies in the mountainous Ardèche on lean schist and granite soils, giving Syrah from this site a particular minerality and restraint. Low yields and complex terrain shape wines with lively acidity and an elegant, unforced body. A moderate mountain climate keeps freshness even in warm years.
