Vinification
Raoul from Le Mazel is a typical natural Carignan from the Ardèche, vinified with minimal intervention. The fruit goes through whole-cluster or partial carbonic maceration that highlights freshness and fruitiness. With no added sulfur or only minimal use.
Winery Story
Le Mazel is Gérald and Jocelyne Oustric's estate in the Ardèche, in the southern Rhône valley. Gérald Oustric is one of the pioneers of natural winemaking in France and has inspired a generation of growers; the estate's wines are known for their lively, terroir-driven character and minimal cellar intervention.
Vineyard Story
Le Mazel's vineyards lie on the granite and schist soils of the Ardèche at around 400 metres above sea level. Carignan here yields wines with characteristic acidity and minerality, and the cool mountain climate preserves freshness and delicacy. The vines are tended along organic and natural-farming lines, without chemical inputs.
