Vinification

Raoul from Le Mazel is a lively, unforced wine from Carignan, made in a natural style with minimal intervention. Most partial or full carbonic maceration is used to preserve freshness and fruitiness. The wine is unfiltered and produced with no added sulfur or only trace amounts.

Winery Story

Le Mazel is the estate of Gérald and Jocelyne Oustric in the Ardèche, one of the symbols of French natural winemaking. The family works on biodynamic principles and full non-intervention in the cellar, making wines that reflect the living character of the terroir. Their cuvées stand out for expressiveness, wildness and authenticity.

Vineyard Story

Le Mazel's vineyards lie on the stony soils of the Ardèche in the Rhône valley, at altitudes that provide natural freshness. Carignan here yields fruit with high acidity and fine tannins, especially at low yields on lean soils. The terroir gives the wine a pronounced minerality and a spicy character.
