Vinification
A Riesling from the first-class Loiserberg vineyard ('Erste Lage' — Austria's equivalent of Premier Cru) in Kamptal. Fermentation runs with native yeasts and ageing takes place in large neutral casks to preserve the purity of the terroir. The style is dry and tense, with pronounced minerality from the gneiss soils.
Winery Story
Fred Loimer is one of the pioneers of biodynamic winemaking in Austria, having moved to Demeter certification in the early 2000s. His estate in Langenlois (Kamptal) is regarded as a benchmark for Riesling and Grüner Veltliner from the region's first-class terroirs. Loimer is known for his minimalist approach in the cellar and his deep respect for the soil.
Vineyard Story
The Loiserberg vineyard lies on steep gneiss-granite slopes in the central part of Kamptal — one of the finest Riesling terroirs in Austria. The 'Erste Lage' status (Austrian Federation of Winegrowers, DAC) has been awarded to this cru for its exceptional ability to express a mineral, tense character of the soil in the wine. A significant diurnal temperature range ensures high acidity and aromatic complexity.
